The Tennessee Journal of Race, Gender & Social Justice and the University of Tennessee College of Law are co-hosting an upcoming CLE event -- "The Nuts and Bolts of Ethics in Juvenile Justice" -- on Friday April 11th from 1:00 to 4:15 at UT College of Law. Professor Shelly George will discuss federal Laws as they relate to Human Trafficking and Sex Trafficking and answer the following questions: What is Human Trafficking? Who is Trafficked? How are they Trafficked? Where are they Trafficked? Does this happen in Tennessee? East Tennessee? What are the laws in East Tennessee? How is law enforcement performing in this area? Are we (law enforcement) successfully attacking this problem? What are some solutions? Cost of lunch is $10.

Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead: book study, hosted by Patty Wheeler Patty Wheeler will lead our April Membership Event. It will be a book study of Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg. Most of you have probably already heard of this compelling and, for some, controversial book that examines why women’s rise to leadership positions has appeared to stall and how to empower women to achieve their goals. Ms. Sandberg is the COO of Facebook, and was ranked one of Fortune’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Business. The book study is open to any interested ETLAW member and will occur on April 17th at 6:00 p.m. at Cherokee Country Club. New Member and Returning Member orientation will start at 5:30 pm. The book can be purchased at Union Avenue Books and ETLAW members will receive a 10% discount. It is also available at other retailers. June Luncheon CLE - Legislative Update

Senator Doug Overbey will present ETLAW's June CLE and provide the group with a Tennessee legislative update. The meeting will be held at the Downtown YWCA, 420 West Clinch Avenue. The YWCA is located at the corner of Walnut and Clinch. Possible parking locations include the Locust Street Parking Garage, the Hilton parking garage, and parking spots along the street. More information about the YWCA is at www.ywcaknox.com. This is a lunch event. Salsarita's taco bar will be served. The cost of lunch is $10, payable via cash or check to ETLAW. The cost of CLE is included in your ETLAW membership, and the cost of this CLE for non-ETLAW members is an additional $25. ETLAW’s Annual Christmas Luncheon and YWCA Charity Event will be held at a location TBD on Wednesday, December 17th starting at 12:00 p.m. Please bring any travel size toiletries you have collected over the year, as well as any items you have pledged to donate, so we can assemble the toiletry bags at the beginning of the luncheon.
